Abstract
This article explores the process of pattern recognition, contained wi thin Newman's theory of health as expanding consciousness, as a nursin g intervention with adults with ovarian cancer. The process of the nur se-client interactive pattern revealed four nonlinear phases: the clie nt-nurse mutual concern, pattern recognition, vision and action potent ial, and transformation. Most participants found meaning in their live s and experienced personal growth in expanding consciousness.
