La. Lowe, USING THE CHILD-BEHAVIOR CHECKLIST IN ASSESSING CONDUCT DISORDER - ISSUES OF RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY, Research on social work practice, 8(3), 1998, pp. 286-301
To determine the reliability, validity, and usefulness of the Child Be
havior Checklist (CBCL) and its supplements in the identification of c
onduct disorder an extensive review of the literature currently availa
ble on the CBCL and its supplements was conducted. Research revealed t
hat the CBCL and its supplements were reliable and valid. The extent o
f knowledge concerning its usefulness in detecting conduct disorder wa
s somewhat limited; however the available information suggested that t
he instruments were highly sensitive to the disorder if not particular
ly specific. The CBCL and supplements are useful tools in social work
practice, including the identification of conduct disorder if used in
combination with other assessment instruments.
