A prototype three-color display system, based on microcavities contain
ing conjugated polymers is presented. Characterization of emission sho
wed that the microcavities were able to select different saturated emi
ssion colors out of the broad emission of the polymer, However, at vie
wing angles greater than 30 degrees, significant changes in the cavity
emission color were observed, principally due to the shift in reflect
ance of the cavity's dielectric mirror, A novel system is presented th
at significantly minimizes this color change.
