Ym. Ado et al., HELICAL MAGNETIC-FIELD TO SUPPRESS SPIN RESONANCES IN CIRCULAR ACCELERATORS, Instruments and experimental techniques, 40(1), 1997, pp. 20-26
Results of three-dimensional simulation of the helical-dipole magnetic
field are presented. The helical dipole is the key element of the spi
n rotator developed for suppressing spin resonances in circular accele
rators. The influence of the spin rotator built into the magnetic stru
cture of the U-70 accelerator at the Institute for High-Energy Physics
(IHEP) on the dynamics of the 10-GeV proton beam is analyzed. A small
-scale model of the helical magnet, which was manufactured and experim
entally tested, is described.
