Neutron-diffraction measurements and experimental data from the litera
ture are combined in a study of characteristic changes in the structur
al parameters a(omega), c(omega) and z(omega), of the omega phase in t
he Zr-Nb system, and in systematizing relations between the omega and
the parent BCC phases. The interatomic distances in the omega phase re
veal remarkable regularities in their composition dependence, which po
int to peculiarities in the bonding characteristics of this phase.
