Abstract
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and standard sealing qual ity control tests were used to examine the accelerating effect on hydr ation reactions of the addition of 2 cm(3)/L TEA to the sealing bath. The presence of TEA was found to shorten the critical times required f or the acid dissolution test to be passed by a factor of 5 at boiling temperature and by almost 100 times at 50 degrees C. The effect of TEA was reflected similarly in the dye drop and acid dissolution tests, a nd somewhat less markedly in the admittance test.
