Abstract
Paraleyrodes minei Iaccarino is an species adventive in southern Calif ornia. First noted in 1984 in San Diego, its range has expanded to inc lude most of the southern coastal portions of California, north to Ven tura County and inland to Riverside County. Population development is continuous throughout the year, requiring approximate to 60 d from egg to adult in the winter, and 20 d from egg to adult in the summer. Pre imaginal survival is high for a whitefly, ranging from 10% in the wint er to 36% in the summer. No natural enemies have been identified attac king the whitefly in California. New natural enemies are being sought to bring about biological control of this species.
