Abstract
Multimetallics such as dendrimer 3 which are functionalised at their p eriphery with platinum(II) metal centres reversibly absorb SO2 to yiel d macromolecules with significantly enhanced solubility characteristic s and drastic colour changes; properties which make these compounds hi ghly active sensors for milligram quantities of toxic SO2 gas.
