Abstract
New small. EAS experiments at observation levels 500-600 g cm(-2) devo ted to investigation of the primary mass composition and energy spectr um at energies 10(4)-10(5) GeV are necessary to carry calibration betw een the direct (balloons and satellites) and indirect (EAS) methods fo r primary cosmic flux studies. A new shower selection has to be used i n the attempt to obtain the possibility to apply compact EAS arrays fo r unbiased primary mass composition and energy spectrum estimations.
