K. Henchi et al., DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF BRIDGE-VEHICLE INTERA CTION FOR HIGHWAY BRIDGES -2 - APPLICATION TO THE SENNETERRE BRIDGE LOCATED IN QUEBEC, Canadian journal of civil engineering, 25(1), 1998, pp. 174-187
In this paper, an application of the algorithm for the dynamic analysi
s of bridge-vehicles interaction that the authors developed in the pre
ceeding paper is presented. The numerical results are compared to the
results obtained from experimental tests of frequencies and mode shape
s and from forced vibrations carried out on the Senneterre bridge loca
ted in Quebec. The numerical model of the bridge is obtained by tridim
ensional finite element modeling, using shell and beam elements, and t
aking into account bridge-vehicles interaction and the road profile in
a realistic way. The numerical vehicle model used in the province of
Quebec is represented in a discrete form based on mechanical parameter
s calibrated and adjusted according to experimental results. A paramet
ric study was then carried out. The results of this study allow us to
present some recommendations with regard to bridge resistance to dynam
ic effects and the determination of a dynamic amplification factor bas
ed on the specific loading conditions of the bridge.
