The crystal structure and microwave dielectric properties of the (1-x)
La(Zn1/2Ti1/2)O-3-xSrTiO(3) system were investigated using X-ray powde
r diffraction and a network analyzer. The crystal structure of the sol
id solution approached that of a cubic perovskite with an increasing a
mount of SrTiO3. B-site cation ordering, in-phase tilting, and anti-ph
ase tilting of oxygen octahedra disappeared at x = 0.4, 0.6, and 0.9,
respectively. The relative permittivity (epsilon(r)) and temperature c
oefficient of resonant frequency (tau(f)) of the solid solutions showe
d a nonlinear variation with no singularity In particular, epsilon(r)
varied according to the mixture rule, 1/epsilon(total) = nu(1)/epsilon
(1) + nu(2)/epsilon(2). This anomalous behavior was attributed to the
structural characteristics of the system. The variation in tau(f) of t
he system is discussed in conjunction with other researchers' works.
