The reaction of dicarbonyl(eta(5)-cyclopentadienyl) cobalt (1) and som
e of the Cp-ring substituted congeners with bis(tert-butylsulfonyl)ace
tylene (BTSA) results in the replacement of one CO group by the BTSA m
oiety. The variation of the yields and reaction times indicates a depe
ndence of the reactivity of 1-6 with BTSA as a function of substituent
s. X-ray investigations of the products show that the alkyne unit is s
trongly bound to the metal.
