The synthesis, elemental and spectrometric analysis of isoniazid conju
gates with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were obtained. In the first par
t of the work, acyl isoniazid, hydroxymethyl isoniazid, and modified p
oly(ethylene glycol) were synthesized. These compounds were characteri
zed by FTIR, by elemental analysis, and by NMR. To obtain antitubercul
osis macromolecular prodrugs with sustained delivery, the modified PEG
were used as carriers by linking, via end group, either isoniazid or
its hydroxymethyl derivative.
