A. Benzioni et M. Ventura, EFFECT OF THE DISTANCE BETWEEN FEMALE AND MALE JOJOBA PLANTS ON FRUIT-SET, Industrial crops and products, 8(2), 1998, pp. 145-149
Fruit set of the dioecious, wind-pollinated plant jojoba (Simmondsia c
hinensis) was studied in two clones of female plants as a function of
their distance between female and male plants growing in separate rows
. At a distance of > 27 m between the two sexes, a significant decreas
e of fruit set was observed( This effect was stronger in the early-flo
wering clone (Q-106) than in the late-flowering one (64). Fruit set te
nded to increase in the rows south of the male row than in those locat
ed in the opposite direction. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All right
