Abstract
This paper presents a development of the seismicity model S.O.F.T., (s caling organization and fracture tectonics). We remain in the frame of this simple model, which is based on an energy splitting combined wit h a renormalization group approach. Redistribution of energy over the entire considered domain after strong events was introduced in the pre vious model. The present version displays some general features of rea l seismicity, such as Gutenberg-Richter law, Omori law of temporal dec rease of the aftershock activity, seismic cycle ('quiet' periods with a background seismic activity, periods of foreshock and aftershock act ivity). This is shown by numerical experiments in both the single doma in case and in the case of exchange of energy between several domains. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
