A case is reported of a 44-year-old woman with metastatic choriocarcin
oma of the thoracic extradural space causing paraplegia. Spinal cord c
ompression due to an extradural deposit is an emergency in neurosurgic
al practice. The majority of these lesions are metastatic. To our know
ledge choriocarcinoma metastases and extradural cord compression in th
e spinal canal is the first case reported in the neurosurgical literat
ure.
