Abstract
We have suppressed the amplified spontaneous emission in a femtosecond terawatt Ti:sapphire chirped-pulse-amplification (CPA) laser by injec ting clean microjoule seed pulses into thr regenerative amplifier. The intensity contrast ratio, which is one of the major difficulties in C PA lasers, was improved from similar to 10(5) in the original nanojoul e injection case to similar to 10(7) in the nanosecond scale.
