Abstract
Oxidation of 9-decen-1-ol to 9-decenoic acid was conducted in aqueous media (dioxane-water mixtures) in the presence of supported palladium or platinum catalysts. The beneficial effect on the activity of a bism uth promoter, deposited on the platinum particles by a redox reaction, was demonstrated. Operating in a mass-transport-limited regime improv es the resistance of the catalyst to deactivation by over-oxidation.
