Abstract
The French Academy of Surgery was not created easily largely due to th e frequent quarrels between physician and surgeons. Founded in 1731, i t experienced many trials and tribulations for three centuries. Disban ded in 1793 by the Conventionm it was transformed into Society Nationa l in 1843 and only regained the name of Academy in 1935.
