A method for the solution of the two-electron problem in a strong magn
etic field is presented that combines the well-known hyperspherical cl
ose-coupling and finite element methods and applied to helium in a mag
netic held of up to 10(5) T, giving energy levels of low-lying S and P
states up to a principal quantum number of n = 4 as well as wavelengt
hs of selected transitions.
