Activation of amide bond for anion complexation is rewieved. Pyridyl a
s well as (per)fluorinated phenyl groups positioned on Ar-CO-NH-Ar' sy
nthon have been found to promote complexation ability and/or selectivi
ty of monodentate and multidentate neutral ligands for anion and anion
-cation couples in solution. Complexation ability as well as structure
of several complexes formed by fluorinated benzanilides with bromide
anions have been evaluated.
