High resolution spectra of neutral vanadium excited in a hollow cathod
e discharge with helium, neon and argon as carrier gases have been rec
orded in the infrared region (1800-9000cm(-1)) by Fourier transform sp
ectroscopy. A detailed analysis of the spectra has allowed to determin
e some missing terms in the doublet, quartet and sextet systems of the
configurations 3d(5), 3d(3)4s5p, 3d(4)4s, 3d(4)5p and 3d(4)5d of VI.
Investigation of the hyperfine structure patterns has confirmed the id
entification of the transitions and has given rise to the determinatio
n of 67 new magnetic dipole constants.
