Abstract
Unpredictable and potentially life-threatening, immune thrombocytopeni a can occur with any drug, at times even after long, uneventful use. H eparin is the most common cause; although the fall in platelet count t ends to be modest, these cases are particularly dangerous because of a ssociated thrombosis, Much has been learned about heparin-induced dise ase, but complex issues remain.
