Abstract
The dependence of lidar return signals on the aperture size of the fie ld stop is examined. Observational results are presented for both Newt onian and Cassegrainian telescopes. Analytic expressions are derived f or the lidar geometric form factors, in satisfactory agreement with th e experiments. (C) 1998 Optical Society of America.
