K. Kondoh et T. Ohji, ALGORITHM-BASED ON CONVEX-PROGRAMMING METHOD FOR OPTIMUM HEAT INPUT CONTROL IN ARC-WELDING, Materials transactions, JIM, 39(3), 1998, pp. 420-426
A simple mathematical method for the estimation of the optimum heat in
puts in are welding has been developed in the present work, the optimi
zation problem is to make the temperature field coincide with the requ
irement during welding. In the expression of the problem, an analytica
l solution of heat flow equation is applied for the calculation of the
temperature held in welding, and the objective function is defined as
the difference between calculated and required temperatures. The prob
lem is expressed as the quadratic function of heat inputs and it resul
ts in the convex programming problem, and it is clarified that the glo
bal optimum is certainly obtained by using Kuhn-Tucker conditions in t
he nonlinear programming method. Furthermore, the propriety of the opt
imizing algorithm is evaluated experimentally by a bead-on-plate weldi
ng test, and it is concluded that the algorithm proposed in the presen
t work is reliable and useful enough to determine the optimum heat inp
ut pattern in are welding process.
