Synthesis and characterization of electrical and magnetic properties o
f ilmenite phases of the type MnTi1-xNbxO3 have been carried out. Sing
le phase materials could be obtained for 0.0 less than or equal to x l
ess than or equal to 0.25. The electrical conductivity increases with
increasing Nb content. Magnetic susceptibility studies show that the p
hases exhibit 2D antiferromagnetic behavior. The magnetic susceptibili
ty data has been analyzed using Fisher's specific heat to determine th
e long range ordering temperature, (C) 1998 Academic Press.
