Jef. Delrio et Mf. Catedra, EFFICIENT CONFIGURATIONS OF THE MATRIX PENCIL WITH DATA PROVIDED BY 2ORTHOGONAL LINEAR ARRAYS OF ELECTRICALLY SMALL DIPOLES, Digital signal processing, 8(2), 1998, pp. 103-113
In this paper it is shown how the matrix pencil method could be used f
or direction finding in 3D scenarios. To accomplish this, the wavefiel
d is assumed to be sampled (in space and in time) by two uniform linea
r arrays forming a right angle (e.g., a cross array of an L-shaped arr
ay). The algorithm presented will provide estimates of azimuth and ele
vation angles, polarization, and average power of the narrowband incid
ent waves, which can be coherent. To take into account wave polarizati
on, each array sensor consists of two crossed dipoles. In addition, di
poles are chosen to be electrically small so as to diminish the undesi
red mutual coupling effects. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
