Abstract
D-002 is a mixture of higher aliphatic primary alcohol isolated from b ees war (Apis mellifera) with effective antiulcer effects demonstrated in different experimental models. Oral toxicity of D-002 (5-5000 mg/k g) was evaluated in sub-acute (14 days), subchronic (90 days) and chro nic (I year) studies in Sprague-Dawley rats from both sexes. There was no treatment-related toxicity. Thus, effects on body weight, food con sumption, clinical observations, blood parameters, organ weight ratios and histopathological findings were similar in control and treated gr oups. These short and long-term studies support a wide safety margin f or this product.
