This work is targeted toward understanding the performance in terms of
residual timing error of the over-the-air autonomous decentralized in
terbase-station synchronization system. An exact solution for the unif
orm weights case and an approximate solution for the power weights eas
e are obtained in closed form. The residual timing error, system stabi
lity, and system convergence performance are studied based on the clos
ed-form solutions. It is shown that timing can converge very fast for
the uniform weights case; the power weights case has loser residual ti
ming error measured in terms of standard deviation than that of the un
iform weights case when all transmitted power levels are the same.
