Abstract
A standard series of acoustic evaluation surveys was undertaken during 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996, in order to estimate the abund ance and spatial distribution of the sardine in the northwestern Medit erranean (Catalonia and Valencia). The results are compared with the l andings of the commercial fleets that exploit this resource in the sam e zone. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
