Abstract
The World Wide Web-whether Internet, intranet, or extranet-has become a key element of post-industrial society. The author contends that the convergence of Web and OO technologies will provide the ability to us e new or legacy code on distant machines to build distributed, three-t ier client-server applications. These applications will transcend conv entional boundaries of platform, organizational function, enterprise, industry, and geography to leverage the power of distributed computing .
