Abstract
The influence of the acidity of ultrastable Y (USY) zeolite-supported tungsten or nickel sulfide catalysts, prepared at different pH values, on thiophene hydrodesulfurization activity has been studied. The acid ity affects the catalysts' deactivation. The results of the initial ac tivity clearly show a synergic effect between the metal sulfide center s and the Bronsted acid sites present in the zeolites. (C) 1998 SCI.
