Abstract
Pulsed laser damage of ferrites of MnZn spinels was studied. Some of t he samples were treated by nuclear gamma radiation and LY particles an d then exposed to laser beams in different working conditions. The sam ple and damage quality was evaluated on the basis of X-ray, optical an d SEM microscopy and micro-hardness experiments. The characteristic br ittleness after nuclear gamma irradiation of ferrites and other materi als was confirmed in the cases of interactions with laser beams. Chara cteristic cases of material cracks with CO2 laser were found. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
