Abstract
A novel phase-lock type clock recovery technique based on a terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) is proposed. The technique is compatible with the conventional time-division multiplexing (TDM) timi ng techniques but does not require the ultrahigh-speed optical detecto r nor ultrafast electrical components, Further, it can readily be used to achieve frame synchronization, upon which a complete self-timing d emultiplexer can be demonstrated.
