Bi. Yakushev et Vi. Parfenov, ABSORBED RADIATION-DOSE IN PLANTS OF NATU RAL COMPLEXES IN BYELARUS OVER THE PAST 10-YEAR FOLLOWING THE CHERNOBYL ACCIDENT, Doklady Akademii nauk BSSR, 42(1), 1998, pp. 83-87
An absorbed radiation dose in plants of the natural complexes in Belar
us for 10 years following the Chernobyl accident was calculated. The d
ata on dynamics of exposure dose rate in the area for 10 years were us
ed for calculating the absorbed dose due to external irradiation and t
he data on the specific activity of the plants due to incorporation of
caesium-137 and strontium-90 were taken into consideration when calcu
lating the absorbed dose due to internal irradiation. The highest cont
ribution to formation of absorbed doses of ionizing radiation in plant
s in the radiocontaminated zones belongs to internal irradiation of pl
ant organisms due to incorporated radionuclides, in particular caesium
-137.
