The present paper reports on a multilevel experimental research work c
arried out to support an actual in-situ bioremediation of a kerosene c
ontaminated site. The remediation project consists in a soil stripping
with air followed by a bioventing step to effetc the biodegradation o
f the residual non-volatile part of pollutants. The experimental work
was aimed at verifying the actual biotreatability of many soil samples
taken at different locations and at different depths in the contamina
ted site and to investigate the influence of the relevant parameters a
nd variations such as: nutrients supply (N, P in different forms) and
their optimal amounts, soil pH correction, inoculation with specialise
d microflora.
