In this paper, the concept of higher-order atomic-dipole squeezing (HO
ADS) has been introduced, and we have, as an example, studied ii; in a
two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model which could generate second-order at
omic-dipole squeezing (SOADS). Theoretical studies have shown that HOA
DS could also be achieved in this model when it is restricted to the f
ollowing initial condition: the field in a thermal state and the atom
in a proper coherent superposition of states. In details, we have disc
ussed the influence of initial atomic coherence or thermal photons on
HOADS, and the important connection of HOADS with second-order squeezi
ng effects.
