The impurity effect on the position of the chemical potential in the t
wo-dimensional Hubbard model was investigated using the exact diagonal
ization method and the coherent potential approximation. Within these
methods the chemical potential is pinned in the middle of the gap when
the strength of the impurity potential is about 1 eV, which may expla
in the photoemission spectroscopic results for Nd2-xCexCuO4.
