Abstract
A range of alpha-alkoxyphosphonates, including novel alpha-methoxyally l phosphonates have been prepared from acetals. The latter have been u sed to provide an efficient and convenient synthesis of conjugated met hoxy dienes, in which E-geometry predominates in the newly formed doub le bond but the geometry of the original allyl system is preserved.
