Abstract
This paper presents an analytical surface impedance model able to copy the behavior of photonic bandgap materials (PBG). The formalism intro duced below is developed in the frequency domain and transposed into t he time domain before being implemented in an FDTD algorithm. This new model is finally validated by considering a PBG plane reflector. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
