From the bark of Loxostylis alata (Anacardiaceae) two phenolic lipids,
cardanol and ginkgolic acid have been isolated for the first time fro
m this source. Attention is drawn to the fact that a member of a relat
ed genus, Smodinglum argutum contains similar compounds.
