W. Vetter et al., 2-ALKYLIMIDAZOLINE DERIVATIVE TO CONTROL FATTY-ACID FRAGMENTATION UPON ELECTRON-IMPACT AND ELECTROSPRAY-IONIZATION, Journal of mass spectrometry., 33(5), 1998, pp. 461-472
A new derivative of tbe carboxyl group, N-methyl-2-alkylimidazoline, w
as introduced with the aim of improving the control of fatty acid frag
mentation. Owing to the strongly basic character and the cyclic struct
ure of this derivative, strong stabilization of the charge on the ioni
zed group is obtained so that extensive radical and charge-remote frag
mentation of the chain can be achieved with electron impact and electr
ospray ionization. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
