Abstract
Hyperbranched aliphatic polyesters derived from the AB(2) monomer diet hyl 3-hydroxyglutarate in the presence of titanium(Iv) butoxide are re ported. The oligomeric products were characterised by GPC, NMR spectro scopy and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The degree of branching, molecu lar weights and the possibility of intramolecular cyclisation reaction s have been evaluated. MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry was used to quantif y the extent of possible side reactions, particularly those resulting from alkoxide exchange with the catalyst.
