Abstract
A method of improving the band performance of fiber optic electric cur rent measurement is described and put into test. An electric current s ensing scheme with two metal-coated single-mode optical fibers in an M ach-Zehnder interferometer is employed. Experiments show that a compar atively large measurement bandwidth can be obtained by use of this met hod, in which only a low offset frequency component is detected, whate ver the measurand frequency is. In the test experiments, we have shown a flat characteristic in frequency response up to 20 kHz. (C) 1998 So ciety of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. [S0091-3286(98)01205 -7].
