Abstract
Solid surface enhancement effects on chemiluminescence were studied us ing several natural and synthetic polymers. The influence of surface c onditions of cellulose on the chemiluminescence of powder and filter p aper was also examined. Intensities for powder were relatively low com pared to paper. The influence of packed powder and transparent film wi th the same particle size was examined for PVA, PVC and acetylcellulos e. Each polymer showed similar chemiluminescent properties for film st ate, irrespective of their different chemical structures. Also studied were the effects of functional groups on the chemiluminescence intens ity and lifetime of cellulose derivatives (cellulose, acetylcellulose, chitin and chitosan) in powder states. Finally, this paper discusses the relationship among intensities, lifetime and chemiluminescence ene rgies for the respective samples. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All r ights reserved.
