Abstract
Electronic spectroscopic spectra of guanine and guanosine in non-aqueo us solvents are being reported for the first time. The key aspect of t he work is the study of self-association of these naturally occurring bases by means of UV Spectroscopy. The observance of a band at ca. 226 nm is being postulated as due to the formation of self-associates. Th e interplay of different operating forces are also discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
