H. Rodgers et al., WARFARIN ANTICOAGULATION IN PRIMARY-CARE A REGIONAL SURVEY OF PRESENTPRACTICE AND CLINICIAN VIEWS, British journal of general practice, 47(418), 1997, pp. 309-310
The demand for anticoagulation services is rising. Warfarin anticoagul
ation has been shown to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with non
-valvular atrial fibrillation by 68%. This raises issues about how ser
vices are best organized to initiate and monitor anticoagulation in th
is potentially large group of patients. We report the results of a reg
ional postal survey undertaken to describe the views of general practi
tioners and consultants regarding warfarin anticoagulation in light of
this potentially high increase in demand.
