V. Mailly et al., YELLOWING OF COATED PAPERS UNDER THE ACTION OF HEAT, DAYLIGHT RADIATION, AND NITROGEN-OXIDE GAS, Tappi journal, 80(5), 1997, pp. 176-183
A high degree of whiteness in coated papers is necessary for a quality
image. Such papers often yellow in their storage environment. This wo
rk studied the influence of daylight radiation and nitrogen oxide gas
on the yellowing of coated papers. The yellowing is due to the action
of nitrogen oxide on antioxidants in latexes and fluorescent agents. A
mmonia intensifies yellowing caused by nitrogen oxide acting on latexe
s but not on fluorescent agents.
