P. Banerjee et al., LEVEL SCHEME OF GA-65, Nuovo cimento della Società Italiana di Fisica. A. Nuclei, particles and fields, 110(12), 1997, pp. 1365-1374
The level scheme of Ga-65 has been studied up to an excitation energy
of 7035.3 keV and spin-parity values of (27/2(+)). Gamma-ray singles,
gamma gamma-coincidences, angular distributions and Doppler shift atte
nuation have been measured in the reaction Cu-63(alpha, 2n gamma) at 3
0 MeV. The spin and parity (J(pi)) assignments for several states belo
nging to the previously known bands are confirmed. The mean life and t
he parity of the 2814.7 keV state, hitherto unknown, are reported. The
J(pi) for the 3733.2 keV state is proposed to be 15/2(+) on the basis
of angular distribution data and its decay characteristics to the low
er-lying states. Experimental evidence is presented in favour of the 3
733.2 keV state of being a bandhead for a rotation-like Delta I=2 posi
tive-parity band with the excited members at 4547.5, 5643.5 and 7035.3
keV. The deduced B(E2) results indicate the presence of appreciable c
ollectivity in the other positive-parity band built on the 9/2(+), 203
7.3 keV state. These bands in Ga-65 are discussed and compared with si
milar bands in the neighbouring odd-A nucleus Ga-67.
