Abstract
Four new 22 pi aromatic porphyrinoid triaza[22]annulenes 8a, 8b, 9a, a nd 9b of the ''expanded texaphyrin'' type, 8a, 8b, and 9a with shielde d inside protons and deshielded outside protons, were synthesized from 2,2'-bipyrroles 4 via 1,9-bis(pyrrol-2-yl)dipyrrins 5 and the dialdeh ydes 6, resulting from Vilsmeier formylation of 5, by cyclization with diaminomaleonitrile (7) and o-phenylenediamine (2).
